Short Man of the match again

Former NTIS Cricket athlete D‘Arcy Short has earned a fourth man-of-the-match performance in the 2018/2019 Big Bash League.

D’Arcy Short’s performances have helped propel the Hobart Hurricanes to sit a game clear on top of the BBL ladder. His score in the match of 96 not-out is the current highest score this BBL season.

Batting for the Hobart Hurricanes against the Melbourne Stars, Short finished the innings 96 not-out from 57 balls, but an incorrect decision from the umpire in the 18th over cost him four runs. Short managed to edge a Dwayne Bravo delivery through his legs for four, but the umpire ruled that it had missed the bat completely and came off the pad before it went to the boundary. D’Arcy rightfully scored a hundred not-out, though it will never officially show in the score books.

The Hurricanes posted 2-185 after being sent in to bat. The Stars were bowled out for 126 in reply, earning Hobart the win.

Opening partner Matthew Wade also continued his fine form with a polished 41. Young quick Riley Meredith snared 4-24 to be the pick of the Hurricanes’ bowlers, while Short also added figures of 1-16 with his left-arm wrist spin.
