Former NTIS Cricket scholarship athlete Kane Richardson earned man-of-the-match honours in the Melbourne Renegades win over the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League last night.

Richardson set up the win for the Renegades, with a devastating opening spell of bowling. He finished with figures of 3-26 from his four overs, including the key wickets of star Sixers’ batsmen Daniel Hughes and Moises Henriques.

Richardson has now taken 14 wickets in seven games to make him the leading wicket taker for the BBL tournament so far. His performance also added the distinction of setting a new record of becoming the first player in BBL history to take three wickets in an innings 10 times.

“It’s nice to get wickets, but it is not always the way in T20 cricket to do so well wicket wise, so it is nice to do my job and hopefully that can keep going,” he said post match.
