Dowling wins through to round of 16 at World Games

NTIS Squash scholarship holder Rhys Dowling has won his way to the round of 16 at the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland.

In the round of 32 Rhys beat Daniel Mekbib of the Czech Republic 11-7, 8-11, 9-11, 11-8, 12-10. This was a come from behind victory with a tense 10-10 deadlock in the fifth and final set.

Rhys then advanced to the round of 16 where he faced, tournament number one seed, Simon Rosner of Germany. Rosner won in 3 sets 11-8, 11-3, 11-7 and was the eventual Gold Medal winner for Men’s Squash.
