Dowling wins Tasmanian Open

NTIS Squash scholarship holder Rhys Dowling has won the 2017 Tasmanian Open, in Devonport.

Dowling won this way to the final defeating Graham Maio of Hong Kong in the first round, Vivian Rhamanan in the quarter final and Tsz Kwan Lau in the semi-final. Rhys won the final against number one seed Matthew Hopkin 4/11, 11/5, 11/8, 8/11, 11/5. Rhys’ Father, Peter Dowling, reports, “You would appreciate he’s pretty excited, it’s a great preparation for his Australian representation at The World Games in Poland, commencing mid-July”.

Another NTIS scholarship athlete, Joseph White, won through qualifying beating Toby Moore and Jason Holmes before being eliminated, in round one of the main open tournament competition, by eventual runner up Matthew Hopkin.
