Former NTIS supported athlete D’Arcy Short was at it again last night posting another pulsating half century, his 6th of the BBL08 tournament, to help the Hobart Hurricanes cruise to victory over the Brisbane Heat.

Short (68 not out) combined with young left hander Caleb Jewell (61 not out) for an unbroken 132-run partnership that helped chase down the 145 set by Brisbane, winning the match by nine wickets and with 34 balls to spare.

Short has now taken his BBL tally to a competition leading 541 runs averaging 67.62 with the bat, to help Hobart sit four points clear at the top of the ladder, despite having played one less match than the second placed Sydney Sixers. The Hurricanes have firmly established themselves as red-hot favourites to take out the silverware this year after coming up short in last season’s final to the Adelaide Strikers, who they will play in their next match down in Tasmania tomorrow night.
