2019 NT Short Award Winner

Former NTIS cricketer D’Arcy Short’s stellar year of cricket has culminated in claiming the Northern Territory’s top sporting honour, the 2019 NT Sportsperson of the Year.

The 28-year-old Katherine-born cricketer enjoyed one of the most impressive batting seasons to date in the Big Bash League helping him claim Player of the Tournament honours, scoring a total of 578 runs (the most in competition history) that included five half-centuries and a century. The 122 not out off 69 balls Short scored against the Brisbane Heat, was also a record highest individual score for a BBL match. To go with his sublime BBL performances, Short also made his International debut for Australia at T20 and One Day International level, in February and June respectively.

Short will now wait to see if he is selected for the Australian squad in the upcoming cricket World Cup, to be played in England this year.
