Touchdown: Darwin Welcomes Inaugural Donghai Airlines Flight

It’s an exciting day for the Territory, with the first non-stop Donghai Airlines flight to touchdown in Darwin, direct from Shenzhen, China.

Following a formal ceremony at the Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport with Minister for Tourism and Culture Lauren Moss, Donghai Airlines Chairman Mr Huang Chubiao and President Mr Yang Jianhong and a performance by the Territory’s own award winning Indigenous dance stars Djuki Mala, the new airline service was welcomed to Darwin International Airport with a traditional water cannon salute.

Sharing Unique Territory Experiences in Shenzhen

With the commencement of Donghai Airlines non-stop flights from Shenzhen in China to Darwin, Territorians have a new holiday destination to discover with flights departing and returning on Wednesdays and Sundays.

While in Shenzhen today, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Lauren Moss met with Chinese travel agents and viewed the Tourism NT’s first tourism campaign within Shenzhen and Southern China showcasing NT destinations and attractions on billboards as well as digital advertising spaces.

Chinese Tourists Are Coming: NT Delegation departs for first to China-Darwin flight

Minister for Tourism and Culture, Lauren Moss is leading a Territory delegation to China today ahead of the Donghai Airlines inaugural flight into Darwin from Shenzhen on Wednesday 30 May 2018.

A milestone service for the Territory, the direct route from China is anticipated to bring thousands of new Chinese visitors to the Territory, and has the potential to deliver $32 million in new visitor expenditure each year.
