Alice Springs Masters Games close in style

The Alice Springs Masters Games have been officially closed with Minister for Tourism and Culture Lauren Moss wrapping up proceedings in front of thousands of competitors at Anzac Oval this evening.

“What an amazing week of sporting action, a week filled with so much fun, laughter and terrific results,” Ms Moss said.

“Being here in Alice Springs you really get an understanding of how much this event means to the town and I would like to thank the people of Alice Springs for welcoming all of our guests with open arms.”

The 30th Anniversary Alice Springs Masters Games had numerous highlights, records and also introduced the mid-week street party for the first time.

“The atmosphere throughout the entire week has been incredible both on and off the field.

“Of course none of this could have happened without all of the hard work done behind the scenes and I would like to thank everyone involved.

“This year we had over 900 volunteers, a sports workforce of nearly 500, 90 sports medicine personnel and 34 ambassadors, they all did a wonderful job.”

Minister Moss also announced 13-20 October as the date for the 2018 Alice Springs Masters Games. “After such a successful event, 2016 will be hard to top, but I can’t wait to see what is in store for when we return in two years’ time.”
