In Vogue: Songs by Madonna

Helpmann award-winning performer Michael Griffiths comes to Alice Springs for one night only with his award winning show In Vogue: Songs by Madonna.

Madonna is the best-selling female recording artist in history and In Vogue: Songs by Madonna will take audiences along a journey of her greatest hits spanning more than three decades.

“In so many ways what you’ll get to see on stage is that Michael Griffiths IS Madonna,” Araluen Cultural Precinct director Dr Mark Crees said.

“No accent, costume or wigs - just the Queen of Pop leading you on a journey through her tough life and tender songs in a way that will have you cheering at the end of Michael’s performance – and perhaps dancing out of the theatre with a smile that is likely to last for a week.”

In Vogue: Songs by Madonna was originally performed at the 2011 Adelaide Cabaret Festival and has travelled internationally to New York, London, Edinburgh and Auckland.

The Edinburgh Evening News gave In Vogue: Songs by Madonna a five star review, saying: “Australian musical theatre star Michael Griffiths has effortlessly imbued Madonna with class … an intimate affair underscored by a wickedly camp bitchiness that delights.”

The show has since won the 2014 Adelaide Fringe award for Best Cabaret and was nominated for Best Cabaret at the 2014 Perth Fringe World.

This year, Griffiths won the 2016 Helpmann Award for Best Cabaret Performer for his work on his new show Cole.

“This is the very first time In Vogue: Songs by Madonna has toured Alice Springs and it will be a great opportunity for locals to ‘get into the groove’ at the Araluen Arts Centre,” Dr Crees said.

Ticket prices are adults $39, concession $35, and Friends of the Araluen Arts Centre for $32, with all tickets available from the Araluen Box Office on 8951 1122.

On stage at the Araluen Arts Centre, Saturday 24 September at 8pm.
