Facilities Updates

Following Australian Government advice about stage 1 restrictions on social gatherings, the following is a list of changes to public access to our facilities.

This is not a full list of NT facilities, rather facilities owned by or managed by the Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture.

We are restricting access to our facilities as we believe it is in the best interest of the public at this time. This list may be updated and we will review access to these facilities on a monthly basis.

Top End Facilities

  • Arafura Stadium at Marrara Sporting Complex - is closed.
  • Bruce Munro: Tropical Light exhibition – due to precautions around COVID-19 has now ended.
  • Browns Mart – is closed to the public.
  • Darwin Aviation Museum (Winnellie) - is closed (formerly known as the Australian Aviation Heritage Centre)
  • Darwin Military Museum (East Point) - heritage components are closed.
  • Darwin Waterfront Precinct - partial closes in some areas:
  • Defence of Darwin Experience – is closed.
  • Fannie Bay Goal – is closed.
  • George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens - partial closes in some areas:
    • Visitor and Events Centre - is closed.
    • Gift Shop - is closed.
    • Children's Playground - is closed.
    • other areas of the Gardens remain open.
  • Hidden Valley Raceway – is closed.
  • Larrakia Park (Darwin Footabll Stadium) at Marrara Sporting Complex - is closed.
  • Leanyer Recreation/Water Park – is closed.
  • Marrara Indoor Stadium at Marrara Sporting Complex – is closed to the public but will operate to support Police training.
  • Museum and Arts Gallery NT – is closed.
  • Northern Territory Archives Centre – is closed.
  • Northern Territory Institute of Sport (NTIS) – is closed to the public.
  • Northern Territory Library at Parliament House – is closed.
  • Old Qantas Hanger – is closed.
  • Palmerston Sporting Complex - is closed.
  • Palmerston Water Park – is closed.
  • Red Hot Arts – is closed to the public and venue hire suspended.
  • Sport and Active Recreation Marrara Netball – is closed.
  • Sport and Active Recreation TIO Stadium – is closed.
  • Tactile Arts – is closed to the public.
  • Territory Wildlife Park - is closed.
  • TIO Stadium at Marrara Sporting Complex - is closed.

Facilities not impacted

  • Darwin Waterfront Precinct: Beach lagoon – remains open. Visit the Darwin Waterfront website for more information.
  • Lyons Cottage – remains open with social distancing and hygiene measures in place.

Central Australia Facilities

  • Alice Springs Desert Park - is closed.
  • Alcoota Field Station heritage site - is closed.
  • Araluen Arts Centre – is closed.
  • Connellan Hangar heritage site - is closed.
  • Folk Cottage heritage site - is closed.
  • Megafauna Central – is closed.
  • Museum of Central Australia – is closed.
  • Northern Territory Archives Service, Alice Springs reading room – is closed.
  • Old Araluen Office buiding heritage site - is closed.
  • Old Court House heritage site - is closed.
  • The Residency heritage site - is closed.
