Library & Archives NT

Library & Archives NT (LANT) is the Territory’s state library and state archives.

LANT collects and preserves the Territory’s documentary heritage, including published materials such as

  • books
  • newspapers
  • journals
  • ephemera
  • film and
  • music.

Unpublished materials include:

  • Northern Territory Government archives
  • personal records
  • organisational records
  • photographs and
  • oral histories.

LANT shares this history through digital collections and an active events and exhibitions program including:

  • the permanent A Territory Story exhibition
  • research inquiries services
  • social media and
  • education programs.

In partnership with local governments LANT also develops public library services to meet the needs of the Territory’s diverse communities.

NT Library is moving

In 2024 the NT Library will move from Parliament House to the new Charles Darwin University Education and Community Precinct.

The new NT Library will focus on sharing Territory history and culture with young people and regional audiences.

In August and September 2021, Library & Archives NT consulted Territorians to understand what they want from their new library.
