The Territory Remembers

The Territory Remembers is a program of activities commemorating the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Darwin and World War II wartime events with a connection to the Northern Territory (NT).

The Territory Remembers program aims to:

  • increase awareness of the NT’s involvement in WWII
  • recognise the contribution of Indigenous Australians to the war effort
  • preserve and share our rich military history with future generations to create an understanding of how the war shaped the Territory.

The program includes community events, memorials, an education program, a history program and a special emphasis on the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Darwin and defence of northern Australia.

The special two year program of events will run through 2016, and culminates with the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Darwin on Saturday 19 February 2017.
